Happy 17th Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Cody.........Happy birthday to you....................

We are thrilled to wish Cody a very happy birthday and the fact that he is now at home again is the best present for Cody.

His hickman line has been reinserted but unfortunatley we have lost our first vein. They say there are 6 veins in the body that can be used for a hickman line (this line feeds him his TPN and also fluids each day) but for cody, our surgeon informed us that he only has the use of 3?? We know that they need 2 good veins for transplant and with loosing one vein we are down to our last two already. This is something that needs to be clarified with the surgeon next week.

Hey Codyman - Wishing you a very happy 17th birthday. You are an inspiration to us all, and your courage and strength and "stickability" could teach us all to value what we have in life a helluva lot more, and stop focusing on what we dont. I hope that I will get to say this to you in person one day, and that today is the happiest one you have had in ages. I look forward to your 18th and expect an invite!!! With lots of love, heaps of encouragement and tons of praise - you are a special young man and you make your parents and those around you soooooo proud!! Congratulations and best wishes, Che'z and Sophie XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

thanks clayton you sound like a really awesome person - and thanks to all of you for your support and donations - Cody may need it sooner rather than later - was hoping we would get five years at least before having to address the transplant but I think its going to have to be a lot sooner as we only have so many veins and they unfortunately being used quicker than we would like due to having to replace hickman lines - he has lost two veins so far so am hoping we can keep him infection free for a good long period - prayers and healing also gratefully accepted

Hi there, I stumbled across your blog when doing a search on MV-transplants.

My son, Othello, had a multi-visceral transplant when he was 9 months old.

We too were told that he had lost most of his access points. He was down to his "last one". But, the human body, being the amazing thing it is - rejuvinated. After a while, OThello had more than enough access.

I hope all goes well for Cody and your entire family!!
